These are the public events that make up the headlines of the festival...
Mostly put on independently by the many theatres, comedy clubs and pubs around Devon, sometimes by Off the Wall Promotions.
You will probably need to buy tickets and book in advance. See the Venues page for details.
Not all shows will endorse the aims of the Off the Wallers, but hopefully they will all make you laugh (and swim with endorphins). Which is what it is all about.
Highlights of the main festival are:
Laurence Clarke with his Jim Davidson's Guide to Equality. Disabled comedian Laurence Clark is the UK's self-styled 'sit-down' comedian who refuses to perform if Jim Davidson is in the audience, following Davidson's cancellation of a show in Plymouth because there were wheelchair users in the front row. A big hit at the Edinburgh Fringe, Clark is a searing political satirist, attacking not only Davidson and those with similar views, but Tony Blair and other political leaders. A hard-hitting and hilarious show. Laurence has attitude in spades.
Reggie D Hunter .Fresh from their Edinburgh Festival shows, four of Britains's finest comic talents are coming together for the must-see tour of the year. Four Acts - One Roof - Loads of Laughs. Featuring Reginald D Hunter, a brilliantly unpredictable comic; Russell Howard, writer and star of The Milk Run; Russell Kane, star of The World Comedy Tour 2005; and Ray Peacock, an immensely talented new act. Off the Wall welcomes back Reg who is fast becoming one of the most sought after headline comics in the UK.
James Campbell is the world's only stand up comedian for young people. James is a writer, professional storyteller and stand-up comedian delicately straddling the worlds of childrenÕs theatre and adult stand-up. His act goes from the surreal and silly to aggressive arrogance and wickedly twisted. Recently he has been finding a way to merge his children's and adult comedy into something completely unique.
